Fiat at the Paris International Motorshow 2008
Emotions, imagination and style are the watchwords at the Paris Motorshow, where the Fiat Automobiles stand transforms into an enormous technological garden. A voyage of discovery through an animated landscape where cars reveal their presence among giant stems bearing large disc mirrors.
This is the suggestive setting where visitors can discover the latest brand news, featuring technological innovation, made in Italy style, and respect for the environment.
The best demonstration of this ongoing commitment in the research and development of low-environmental-impact products are the cars on show in Paris with the logo PUR-O2: an exclusive group of versions with characteristics of reduced CO2 emissions and low fuel consumption. Starting in November, the PUR- O2 badge will be applied to specific versions of the 500, Bravo and Croma, equipped with special, distinctive ecological contents such as the new Start&Stop device, developed by Bosch, and the special eco packs, featuring environmentally-friendly tyres, low-viscosity oils, aerodynamic packages and modified gear ratios.
In addition, both on the Fiat 500 PUR- O2 and on a simulator present on the stand, you can get to know eco:Drive, the system for eco-compatible driving developed in collaboration with Microsoft, and which will be appearing throughout the range from January 2009. eco:Drive can analyse your driving style and offer you tips and advice about how to drive more ecologically. Using the USB port for the Blue&MeTM system, you can record your driving characteristics and save them on a normal USB pen drive, and later transfer them to your PC. A special program allows you to carefully analyse the fuel consumption and emissions figures for every journey you make (ecoIndex), and offers you tips on how to drive with the lowest possible environmental impact. You can also become part of community with the shared aim of eco-friendly driving. In addition, the eco:Drive system helps you to save money spent on fuel because it always advises a more regular driving style, resulting in lower fuel consumption. Next to these low-environmental-impact cars, the Fiat stand in Paris also features a host of other models, representing one of the widest and most articulated model ranges in international motoring. Models on show range form the new version of the Fiat Bravo, fitted with the incredible 2.0 Multijet 165 bhp (Euro 5) to the Qubo, from the brand new Fiat Grande Punto MY 2008 to the new version of the Panda ? guaranteeing considerable reductions in CO2 emissions (119 g/km) and extremely low fuel consumption (11 % less than the previous version), to the four-wheel drive Fiat Sedici, the model that in 2007 was the top-selling SUV in Italy.
Then there is the special series Fiat 500 by DIESEL, the result of the collaboration between Fiat and the well-known clothing label. Prodused in a limited edition, and sure to become a genuine icon of made in Italy style, the model is based on the Sport version. It comes in exclusive colours, with 16" alloy wheels with the Diesel logo, yellow painted brake callipers (optional only on the 1.4 100 bhp version), side mouldings with the DIESEL lettering and special wing mirror cowlings. The special DIESEL upholstery features denim fabric with yellow stitching. The DIESEL label also makes an appearance on the instrument panel and on the gear lever, while the sides of the front seats have a special little pocket reminiscent of the fifth pocket on DIESEL jeans.
